Zippers!

Recently I found a new favorite blog, Craftaholics Anonymous. (That could totally be the name of my blog, hee hee.) Anyway, she had some awesome projects using zippers. So I went down to the local thrift store and bought a bag of six zippers for $2 and started crafting. Ready to see some really blurry, awful pictures of my fun zipper crafts?!

Two zipper flower hair bows and ruffled zipper shoes!

They are so much cuter in real life (when they're in focus). I've had these black flats forever... but they had little cutout designs on the toe and were dated to say the least. So I cut off the design and added the zipper ruffle over where it used to be. Ahhh.... so much cuter! You can see the tutorial for zipper shoes here.

To make the hair flower, I hot glued the gathered zipper to a circle of white felt, added a metal brad to the center and put a hair barette on the back. I love how this one turned out. I gave it away, but I'm definitely going to make another one for me!

New Fabric, New Skirt

Did your Joanns get a bunch of new fabric recently? Mine did, and there are LOTS of super cute prints! This is the first one I snatched up (with a coupon, of course). It quickly became a little skirt. It's the same pattern I have used before, but those pleats just don't get old. Adorable! So thank you Joann's for ordering fabric I like and for sending me 50% off coupons every week. I love you!

Spring Sun Dress

Here's a quick spring dress I sewed this week:

The lime green gingham is embroidered with pink butterflies. The pattern is McCalls #5615. I liked this pattern. The directions were easy to follow and the gathered bodice and waistband turned out really great. They add a lot of interest and detail. I made the dress a size 3 width and size 6 length and if I make this pattern again, I would add 3-4 more inches to the skirt. It barely hits her knees even with the size six length.
